Nonlinear Lateral Response of RC Pile in Sand: Centrifuge and Numerical Modeling

چکیده
Centrifuge modeling has been considered as an effective means of studying flexural soil–pile interaction, yet the conventional use elastic material to model RC pile prototype is unable reproduce important nonlinear quasi-brittle behavior. It also remains a challenge numerically interaction due nonlinearity both soil and materials. This paper presents small-scale for testing soil–structure under lateral head loading in sand within centrifuge. Accompanying finite-element numerical presented back-analyze centrifuge observations explore influence constitutive models used. The physical able (1) failure mechanism by forming realistic tension crack patterns plastic hinging (2) give hardening responses upon loading. Comparisons measured predicted results demonstrate that laterally loaded problem, load–displacement response can be well approximated do not incorporate strain softening, even though behavior itself exhibits strong softening response.

Centrifuge modelling of long piles subjected to lateral loading with high load eccentricity in sand
In this research paper, five centrifuge lateral loading tests of long piles with a considerable load eccentricity were carried out in the sand to investigate the impacts of the load eccentricity and pile length changes on the lateral behavior of a flexible pile beside the determination of experimental p-y curves. Comparing experimental test results with the recommended API (American Petroleum ...
متن کاملCentrifuge modeling of rocking-isolated inelastic RC bridge piers
Experimental proof is provided of an unconventional seismic design concept, which is based on deliberately underdesigning shallow foundations to promote intense rocking oscillations and thereby to dramatically improve the seismic resilience of structures. Termed rocking isolation, this new seismic design philosophy is investigated through a series of dynamic centrifuge experiments on properly s...
متن کاملBidimensional Sand Pile Model
In this paper we introduce the Bidimensional Sand Pile Model (BSPM), that is, a generalization of the Sand Pile Model (SPM) with the addition of a further dimension. The SPM and some related models have been studied in many different domains and they play an important role in the theory of discrete dynamical systems. They were considered in the context of integer lattices by Brylawski in 1973. ...
